Rev. Dana Waters

TRANSITIONAL PASTOR

For starters, I’m not the only Dana Waters out there. There are at least four others that I’m related to, two of whom have served as Presbyterian ministers. Being a “fifth” always makes for a great answer when playing two truths and a lie!

As a pastor, my passion for the Church of Jesus Christ has found its highest fulfillment in ministering to and with congregations going through times of transition. This includes pastoral changes as well as community-wide and global transformations. God is doing a new thing in the world, and it includes us!

Prior to arriving at Covenant, I have served churches in Georgia (Atlanta and McDonough) and South Carolina (Aiken, Clemson). I received a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, and transitional ministry certification from the PC(USA).

I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, at South Highland Presbyterian Church where my grandfather served as head pastor. I graduated from Presbyterian College in 2009 with a double major in Business Administration and French. As a student, I co-founded a student-run bookstore in my dorm room. After graduation, my company operated as the official Presbyterian College Bookstore for three years until I felt a call to ministry.

My wonderful wife Kira and I have three delightfully mischievous cats: Chaco, Roday, and Rory. We are excited to make Athens our new home as we explore where God is leading Covenant next!
