Covenant Programs

Serving together is a vital part of Covenant’s community. Particularly, our church focuses on hunger, homelessness, and LGBTQIA+ advocacy. By hosting our own church programs as well as partnering with a number of local and national organizations, we work to fulfill our call to love our neighbors as ourselves. Read below to learn more about how Covenant:

  • Hosts a weekly food pantry serving more than 1,000 people per month including an average of 325 children and 200 seniors
  • Partners with UGArden and Campus Kitchen provides more than 600 hot meals to neighbors in need
  • Offers meeting space to community groups
  • Hosts the Athens Free Clinic providing free health care to anyone in need
  • Mobilizes to advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups

Hunger Action Congregation

HUNGER ACTION CONGREGATION

Covenant Presbyterian Church is a Certified PCUSA Hunger Action Congregation. This means Covenant intentionally engages hunger action by:

• Alleviating food insecurity through our weekly Covenant Food Pantry distributions

• Supporting programs in our community already serving our neighbors who are food insecure and experiencing homelessness

• Seeking to educate ourselves about systemic causes of hunger and economic injustice, advocating for just and sustainable food systems, selling fair-trade coffee, adopting sustainable practices as an Earth Care Congregation, and sharing about hunger action in worship.
